REVIEW: Personal organiser - The Original - “Patent Nude”

From the latest collection of Filofax, I will review The Original Patent Nude (besides Patent Nude, they also released Pillarbox Red and Dark Aqua). When I saw the color I immediately thought about "nude colored shoes". It gave me the "high fashion" feeling and my first thought was "wow"!

Overall impression
The Patent Nude has been released in the sizes Personal and A5. I got the "Patent Nude" in Personal size, this one is 135 x 188 mm and has 23 cm rings.

The Cover
The cover is made of  thick leather with a patent gloss. The inside is also from thick leather with a patent gloss. On the left side from the cover, you have a pocket across the entire length of the planner, where you can put notes behind. On this flap there is a black elastic band that has 2 penloops on each end of the elastic band. Between these 2 penloops there is a place where you can put notes between or businesscards. There are also 2 cut in pockets, I think they are for business cards or maybe for more notes. On the right side of the cover there is another pocket acros the entire length as well. This Filofax somes with a small notebook that is tucked in the pocket on the right side. You can remove this and put some other things in it, but be noticed, the notebook was slid between 2 cut outs on the top and bottom so if you put notes in there it could fall out from the bottom.

The Inserts
The inserts size are 95mm x 171 mm, and contains: a dashboard/flyleaf, week on 2 pages (the academic layout, starting the week with "this week"), index set labeled from 1 to 6 in the colors blue and green, to do's, contacts, lined paper in the colors green, white, blue and pink, graph paper and blank paper. I am happy that they put the academic layout, because I like to see the highlights of that week. This is the layout I like the most.

Pro's
When you open the organiser, it stays neatly open and doesn't need any "training" to stay open. Until now I haven't "found" any fingerprints or smudges, which you were able to see on the other Patent Originals (Black, Purple and Fuchsia). If it gets dirty you can wipe it off easily.

Con's
The second penloop (the penloop near the rings), I wouldn't use that one that quick, because it will make your organiser bulky and it might make pressing marks into your inserts. I also would have loved more pockets instead of those big flaps on both sides.

My Impressions
First I was really "afraid" of The Original, mainly because it might get dirty really quickly and the leather would be too floppy for my liking. But this is not the case, in fact the leather sturdy but not too weak either and I also don't see any fingerprints or smudges on it after using it for some time. I think it's a really pretty planner and would go straight into my bag (yes, but in a protective bag, haha).

REVIEW: Project Life themed cards "Cats"

Look, there are some very lovely Project Life themed cards "Cats" for true cat-lovers (I saw them for dogs as well for cats). At this moment I am trying to set up my cat page in my Project Life album. The journal cards are very sweet and there are enough designs to work with.
 (4 title cards, 4 big journal cards and 32 journal cards)

REVIEW Compact Organiser - Patent - Duck Egg

 

I received a Patent Compact Duck Egg from Filofax latest collection to review and it is such a cutie !
I must admit I have a love for soft cute colors so the new pastelcolored line for the patent is so me.

Overall impression
The filofax patent line has been expanded with the sweet pastelcolors Duck Egg (light greenish blue), Lavender (lilac) and Lemon (yellow) in the sizes Compact and Pocket. For this review I received the Compact size that has the size 130mm.x190mm, in comparison the Personal size Filofax is 135mmx190mm. The combination of the slightly smaller width and smaller rings makes the compact a slimmer version of the Personal size.

The Cover
The cover is made of a glossy leather look PU, when opened the Compact will not lie flat immediatly but I’m sure with some “training” it will get there. The interior is a combination of the glossy leather look PU and a polyester lining in a matching color. Inside on the left side of the cover is a flap pocket with 2 credit card slots and an elastic penloop with is ideal because that means it will fit your Coleto or favourite Frixxion pen! On the right side there is a full length pocket 75mm deep for extra storage space.

Inserts
The compact comes with a set of personal inserts 95mmx171mm. This consists of a dashboard, a pink Filofax cover sheet, a green en blue index set numbered 1-6, a set of 2014 diary pages, good for July until December, a set of 2015 diary pages (both week on 2 pages) and a 2 piece note paper sample set. The sample set consists of to do’s, lined, graph, blank, blue, green, pink lined and 4 pages for contacts.

The week on 2 pages has the academic layout, I prefer this layout because it leaves you with lots of room to jot down anything you need to keep yourself organised. The week starts with “this week” and then the days of the week have an equal sized layout. The paper is not snow white but the standard Filofax cotton cream.

A very complete set of inserts that features a bonus because you get the 2015 diary pages too.

Pro's
Nice manageable size (comparable to a large purse) that still allows more room than a Pocket size, great color and good price vs. quality proportion. The penloop is on the left side which I like.

Con’s
It only holds 2 credit card (but the flap makes up for that) and the cover is vulnerable for dents from nails and bag contants, I would recommend putting a cover around it before throwing it in your bag or keeping it in a designated bagorganiser.  

My Impressions
The Patent is very similar to the Saffiano, the shape of the cover and the strap has nice rounded corners. It’s a lightweight compared to my Personal Malden but heavier than my mobile, a pretty girly Filofax that is the perfect match for young modern woman on the go !

REVIEW Personal Organiser - Limited Edition - MONOCHROME

The latest member of the Filofax Family landed on my doormat
today and I must say: I am pleasantly surprised.

PROJECT LIFE - Journal cards in your Filofax

You probably all heard of Project Life by now? I bet you did!


To describe it boldly it's a prefab Photo-album Kit that gives you lay-out, text and cards, all you need to add are your photographs. Personally I prefer to do this myself, but I can imagine its very handy when you lack a creative gene or two.

I do love to use the Journal cards; put in the holes and they fit all Filofax sizes!


Personally I use one every week in my Filofax. On the back I have a little BULLETLIST. I carry over last week's undone chores onto the new card at the start of the new week. An open bullet means "to do" and I can colour it in once its done (love that part!).


If the card is boring I write a quote myself or draw or stick a nice picture on it. The Instamatic photo's fit perfectly by the way!

I am head over heels in love with the last KRAFT themed set. Loving the neutral Kraft brown and the sunny color mix. A complete set contains 500 cards, of which a lot of doubles. But you can buy them in smaller sets of 100 for only 6,50 euro at Jojo's Scrapshop.
